Thai peer-to-peer video streaming platform PPTV has agreed a sub-licencing deal with pay-television operator GMM Z to broadcast live games from football’s German Bundesliga through the remainder of the 2014-15 season.
The Bundesliga agreement is part of a broader long-term partnership between PPTV and GMM Z. It will commence next month.
Of the 380 live matches in the Bundesliga this season, PPTV HD will offer 34 live games to its customers. GMM Z will share revenue from the live broadcast of these games with PPTV.
Kematat Paladesh, president of Bangkok Media and Broadcasting, the operator of PPTV, told Thai newspaper the Nation: “Having such a top league will reflect our strong selling point as a TV station targeting premium mass audiences. The live telecasts of these games could help improve PPTV’s audience ratings in the fourth quarter.”
