Thai peer-to-peer video streaming platform PPTV has agreed a sublicensing deal with pay-television operator Cable Thai Holdings for rights to English Premier League football matches.
Under the deal, PPTV will show 26 matches during the 2015-16 season on a free-to-air basis.
Kematat Paladesh, president of PPTV parent company Bangkok Media and Broadcasting, said that the broadcaster views sport as a key audience driver, with the platform also showing German football’s top-tier Bundesliga for the next two seasons, from 2015-16 to 2016-17.
CTH has rights in Thailand for the Premier League through to the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
Bangkok Entertainment Company’s Channel 3 and digital channel Thairath TV showed free-to-air Premier League games last season.
