European Tour Productions has been appointed by the R&A to produce broadcast coverage of golf’s Open Championship in Britain.
The deal will run for two years, from 2016 to 2017.
European Tour Productions – a joint venture between golf’s European Tour and the IMG Events & Media agency, was awarded the contract following a “competitive tender process”, according to the R&A.
The R&A was seeking a new production partner after a deal was reached for UK public-service broadcaster the BBC to hand over live coverage of the Open to pay-television broadcaster Sky in 2016, one year earlier than planned.
