Brazilian commercial broadcaster RedeTV has agreed a one-season extension to its sublicensing deal for Campeonato Brasileiro Série B, the second division of domestic club football.
RedeTV has sublicensed the the past three seasons of covered Série B from media group Globo, and has agreed a deal for the 2017 campaign, which is due to commence on May 6.
Franz Vacek, superintendent of journalism and sports at RedeTV told the Maquina do Esporte website that the broadcaster will seek to agree a further three-season contract running from 2018 to 2020.
Série B is RedeTV’s main sports property and the league is set to be granted greater prominence this season with the presence of three-time Série A champion Internacional, which was relegated from the top division in 2016.
