Dutch commercial broadcaster RTL has extended its rights deal to the Uefa Europa League club football competition by striking a new three-year contract for the 2015-16 to 2017-18 seasons.
RTL has held Europa League rights in the Netherlands since 2009 and will continue to broadcast live matches and highlights, as well as exploiting the rights through its RTL XL online streaming platform.
The agreement comes after rival commercial broadcaster SBS last week confirmed the acquisition of rights to the Champions League for the 2015-16 to 2017-18 seasons.
Public-service broadcaster NOS currently holds the free-to-air rights to the Champions League in the Netherlands, but this month said that it would not retain the contract due to budget cuts.
