Welsh public-service channel S4C has acquired highlights rights to the British and Irish Lions rugby union team’s upcoming tour of New Zealand through a sublicensing agreement with pay-television broadcaster Sky.
S4C will show free-to-air highlights of all 10 fixtures on the tour, including three Test matches. Coverage will feature Welsh commentary with English subtitles.
Highlights will be shown on the same day of each game through an evening transmission.
S4C’s coverage will begin with the Lions’ opening match against a Provincial Union XV on June 3. Coverage will be supported by UK production company Sunset+Vine and SMS Media.
