Consumer electronics company Samsung is planning to offer virtual-reality coverage of the 2018 winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.
Samsung, a worldwide Olympic partner, will offer VR headsets to viewers in Seoul. The company provided a similar service for the 2016 summer Games in Rio.
Samsung Electronics mobile marketing director Cha Young-tae told the Korea Herald that Samsung is in talks with the International Olympic Committee and Olympic Broadcasting Services to finalise plans.
The newspaper added that the VR coverage could be provided in real time, with Samsung hoping to establish a 5G network in time for the event.
