SBS nets Copa América Centenario rights

Australian public-service broadcaster SBS has acquired free-to-air rights in the country to this summer’s Copa América Centenario national team football tournament, which will be staged in the United States.

SBS will broadcast live each of the knockout games from the tournament, including the final, a package that includes seven games in total. The centenary edition of the Copa América will take place from June 3-26.

The broadcaster’s World Games online platform will also offer highlights of the entire tournament.

SBS also announced that it has secured rights to the finals of the Coppa Italia and Copa del Rey, the club football knockout tournaments in Italy and Spain.

The Coppa Italia final pits Juventus against AC Milan on May 22, while Barcelona and Sevilla will contest the Copa del Rey final the following day. SBS will show live television coverage of both games, which will also be streamed online.
