Italian Serie A football clubs have approved the distribution of media-rights revenues for the 2015-16 season.
Clubs relegated to Serie B will receive up to €60m ($66m) in parachute payments, depending on how many seasons they have spent in Serie A. The figure is double the current €30m threshold.
Eighteen Serie A clubs voted in favour of the distribution model, with only Chievo and Palermo voting against the plans.
Reports in Italy said that clubs that finish in the top 10 will receive a greater proportion of revenues than those who finish in the bottom 10, although specific details were not released. Reports added that the deal had been reached after the six biggest clubs – Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Napoli, Roma and Fiorentina – reached a compromise with Serie A’s other 14 clubs.
