Pay-television broadcaster ESPN Brasil has acquired rights to Italy’s Serie A, the top division of football in the country, under a sublicensing deal with the league’s rights-holder in Brazil, pay-television broadcaster Fox Sports.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the Maquina do Esporte website said it will run for three seasons, commencing from the ongoing 2014-15 campaign and including the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons.
ESPN Brasil will begin the new deal with exclusive live rights to Saturday’s game between AC Milan and Chievo Verona, along with Lazio’s meeting with Sassuolo on Sunday. ESPN and Fox will both broadcast Monday’s top-of-the-table match between Roma and Juventus.
The return of Serie A to ESPN Brasil means the broadcaster now holds rights to the top divisions of English, Spanish, Italian, German, French, Portuguese and Dutch football.
