Australian commercial broadcaster Seven has secured rights to the 2017 Rugby League World Cup, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The Australian newspaper said Seven has agreed the deal with the IMG agency, with rival commercial broadcaster Nine and pay-television broadcaster Fox Sports having also been in contention. Seven is believed to have paid almost A$10m (€6.7m/$7.5m) for the rights.
Having won the latest edition of the national team tournament in 2013, Australia will be the main host of the 2017 World Cup.
In October, Papua New Guinea was confirmed as a co-host, with the Pacific nation set to share staging rights to the competition with Australia and New Zealand.
