Trio pick up Women’s Rugby League World Cup rights

Pay-television broadcaster Sky New Zealand, Australian commercial broadcaster Seven and Papua New Guinea-based commercial station EMTV have acquired rights to this year’s Women’s Rugby League World Cup.

Sky will broadcast all 12 matches of the national team tournament, which will take place from November 16 to December 2 in Australia.

Details of Seven’s and EMTV’s rights deals were not disclosed.

Sky and Seven had already acquired rights to the men’s World Cup, which takes place across New Zealand, Australia and Papua New Guinea from October 27 to December 2.

This year’s Women’s World Cup will mark the first time the tournament has taken place as a standalone event. Both the men’s and women’s finals will take place at Brisbane Stadium on December 2.

The women’s event will be contested by Australia, Canada, Cook Islands, England, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
