Australian commercial broadcaster Seven Network has agreed a three-year deal with the IMG agency for the domestic broadcast rights to the Australian Masters and Perth International golf tournaments.
The agreement will commence with this year’s tournaments. Seven will provide 20 hours of live national television coverage of the two events, according to David Rollo, vice-president and director of golf for IMG Australia.
This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Australian Masters and the first time it has been played at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club. The event will again be sanctioned by the PGA Tour of Australia and will take place from November 14-17.
The Perth International is Australia’s richest annual golf tournament with prize money of $2m (€1.54m) and the only event to be co-sanctioned with the European Tour and PGA Tour of Australasia. After a successful inaugural event in 2012, this year’s event will return to the Lake Karrinyup Country Club from October 17-20.
IMG Media will produce the broadcast for both events with overlay from Seven Sport.
