French pay-television broadcaster SFR Sport has agreed a four-year rights deal to cover the World Series of Boxing, as a French team prepares to return to the International Boxing Association (Aiba) event.
SFR Sport’s rights deal runs from 2017 to 2020 and covers France, Luxembourg, Switzerland and French-speaking Belgium. The contract also includes a marketing component granting SFR Sport significant branding rights during fights featuring the new French team, entitled Les Fighting Roosters.
The contract was agreed between SFR Sport’s parent company, telecommunications group Altice, along with Asloum Event and the IMG/WSB entity.
Les Fighting Roosters will feature a number of the athletes who featured in what was a successful 2016 summer Olympic Games for the French boxing team. France picked up six medals in the Rio 2016 boxing competitions, including golds for Tony Yoka (pictured) and Estelle Mossely.
