Pay-television broadcaster Sky has enhanced its coverage in Austria of men’s tennis organisation the ATP World Tour by acquiring rights to the 2017 Vienna Open tournament.
The 2017 Vienna Open takes place at the Stadthalle in the Austrian capital from October 23-29 and local hero Dominic Thiem (pictured) is set to compete.
The agreement adds to Sky's existing rights deal for the ATP World Tour. German pay-television broadcaster Sky Deutschland’s three-year contract runs from 2017 to 2019 and includes Austria.
Under the agreement, Sky broadcasts the ATP Finals in London, the nine tournaments of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 series and the majority of the events on the World Tour 500 tier.
The Vienna Open is a 500-ranked tournament, with Britain’s Andy Murray the reigning champion.
