Sky Italia snaps up Copa América rights

Pay-television broadcaster Sky Italia has acquired rights for this year’s Copa América Centenario national team football tournament.

The tournament will take place in the US – the first time it will be staged outside Latin America – and will feature the national teams of the host nation and the likes of Argentina, Brazil and Mexico from June 3-26.

Sky Italia will provide exclusive live coverage of all 32 matches.

The event is operated by Conmebol, the sport’s governing body in Latin America.

Sky Italia will exploit rights on the Sky Sports HD channel and the Sky Go digital service. News, updates and interviews will also be provided via the Sky Sport24 HD channel.

RCS Media Group, the parent company of Italy’s Gazzetta TV channel, acquired exclusive live rights for last year’s Copa América.
