SNY and Cosmos score programming agreement

US cable television channel One World Sports, the broadcast rights holder for New York Cosmos football games, has entered into a distribution agreement with regional US sports cable broadcaster SportsNet New York.

SNY will screen all seven Cosmos home games from the 2013 North American Soccer League fall season. The distribution agreement will commence tomorrow with SNY airing Cosmos’ season opener against Fort Lauderdale Strikers.

SNY will also broadcast five episodes of ‘Cosmos Classics’, a television series that looks back at some of the most memorable games in the club’s history.

One World Sports acquired the rights to New York Cosmos games in June – a deal that marked its first entry into the domestic sports rights market. It will produce all seven of the home games and the Cosmos Classic series under the terms of the deal.

The club confirmed it is still in discussions with One World Sports, as well as various other potential broadcaster partners, for distribution of its away games.
