SportsNet New York and rival local broadcaster MSG Network have sealed separate deals to stream live coverage of several of New York’s major league sports franchises.
SNY will show live coverage of New York Mets Major League Baseball games for the duration of the 2017 season.
MSG Network has agreed a deal with the NHL for live-streaming rights to games featuring the New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders and Buffalo Sabres ice hockey teams. The length of the deal was not disclosed, but coverage is expected to start imminently, according to reports.
The NHL games will be available through the MSG Go application. Currently, only Optimum and Xfinitiy customers have access to the games, but MSG is in talks with other pay-television platforms.
SNY’s agreement with MLB Advanced Media covers in-market streaming rights, with games set to be available to authenticated subscribers through SNY.tv and the NBC Sports app. The coverage will also be available through internet-connected services such as Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Win10 and Xbox.
