The Southeastern Conference college sports competition in the US will announce the launch of a new channel on Tuesday in partnership with pay-television broadcaster ESPN, according to the Associated Press news agency.
The cable-television channel, which will be dedicated to the conference, is expected to start broadcasting in August 2014, the report said.
ESPN will be able to exploit rights covering all of the conference’s sporting events on the channel, apart from one American football game per week that is shown by the CBS Sports division of the CBS network.
ESPN has a 15-year rights deal with the conference, from to 2008-09 to 2022-23, worth an average of $150 million (€115 million) per year.
