Russian pay-television broadcaster NTV Plus has secured the domestic rights to Spain’s Liga Endesa, the top division of basketball in the country, in a deal that will run through to the end of the 2013-14 season.
The Liga’s agreement with NTV Plus commences immediately with the current season’s playoffs and will allow the broadcaster to televise two games per week.
The Liga said its new Russian rights deal extends the global footprint of the competition to 101 countries across four continents.
Albert Agustí, chief executive of the ACB, basketball’s governing body in Spain, said: “With Russia we cover the last of the great territories within our objective of international expansion. We started in 2006 with no international distribution and seven years later the Liga Endesa is present in most of the world.”
