The Sportfive International agency has agreed a deal with M-1 Global to distribute the global media rights to the mixed martial arts promoter’s events on an exclusive basis through 2017.
The contract commences with immediate effect and has an option for an additional four-year extension. The deal excludes the Russian market.
In addition to media rights distribution, Sportfive will provide a range of agency services, including support with television production.
M-1 Global will handle production for all events, while the agency will manage broadcast standards, satellite transmission, digital fan interaction and archive sales of classic fights.
The first event under the new partnership will take place on October 20 at the Ice Palace venue in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Shaila-Ann Rao, chief executive of Sportfive International, said: “Sportfive International and Lagardère Unlimited have been developing business opportunities with MMA for some time now. We are therefore delighted to sign this agreement with M-1 Global, which reflects our long-term commitment to this sport.”
Since its creation in 1997, Amsterdam-based M-1 Global has organised more than 150 events at a selection of venues across the world.
