SportsMax aces WTA’s Caribbean rights

SportsMax will show coverage of Women’s Tennis Association Tour events after the Caribbean pay-television broadcaster’s parent company, International Media Content (IMC), acquired rights in a four-year deal, from 2013 to 2016.

SportsMax will broadcast semi-finals and finals of 22 WTA tournaments live each year, according to the Jamaica Observer newspaper.

SportsMax marketing manager Tanya Lee said: “WTA tennis… will be a great addition to our already strong line-up of football, cricket, track and field, and boxing programming.”

The IMC media company struck the deal with the IEC in Sports agency, which is negotiating the sale of the WTA’s rights in all territories outside North America as part of a partnership with digital media company Perform, the WTA’s worldwide rights-holder outside North America.
