Spring Media to rework Wnited model following pandemic, DAZN rights swoop

The effect of the Covid-19 pandemic and DAZN’s swoop for global broadcast rights to the Uefa Women’s Champions League for four seasons has led the Spring Media agency to seek a new business model for its women’s football OTT platform, Wnited.

Wnited, which uses the streaming technology of Red Bee, the UK-based media services company, was unveiled at the Sportel convention two years ago. It was heralded as the “world’s first global OTT service dedicated to women’s football” and was to aggregate content from top leagues in Europe, Asia and the Americas, along with national team matches.
