Swiss public-service broadcaster SRG has acquired a host of rights to national team football properties held by European governing body Uefa.
Under the deal, SRG's channels will broadcast the Swiss national team’s qualifying campaign for Uefa Euro 2020 and the 2022 Fifa World Cup, along with the finals of the former tournament, which will take place in 13 countries across Europe.
SRG has already secured the rights to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and the 2018 World Cup in Russia, under a deal struck with world football’s governing body in April 2012.
The Uefa rights package also includes Switzerland’s games in the new Nations League through to the 2021-22 season.
Finally, SRG SSR has also secured rights to the 2017 Women’s European Championship, which takes place in the Netherlands from July 16 to August 6. The broadcaster will be able to cover all matches featuring Swiss participation, along with the semi-finals and final.
