The All India Football Federation and its marketing partner, Football Sports Development, have agreed a rights deal covering the national team’s games with pay-television broadcaster Star Sports.
The agreement concerns India’s matches through to March 2018, with all international games being broadcast live on Star Sports and its digital platform, Hotstar.
A Star India spokesperson said: “This is a huge step forward for us. Broadcasting the national fixtures is a significant addition to our line-up of football properties and validates our network as the premier destination for football fans.”
With a clear focus to increase home games, the AIFF recently launched the annual Champions Cup which will be played by four countries, including India, from August 18-27. The agreement with Star Sports also covers India’s qualifying campaign for the 2019 Asian Cup.
