Indian pay-television broadcaster Star has signed a new four-year rights deal with the Badminton World Federation.
The new contract will run from 2018 to 2021 after the previous four-year deal expired in December.
The Inside Sport website noted that the gap between the contracts meant that Indian television viewers missed out on a number of BWF tournaments, including the Indonesia Masters in January where India’s Saina Nehwal (pictured) lost to world number one Tai Tzu Ying in the final.
The matches were instead streamed live by the BWF.
Star struck a separate agreement with Badminton England to cover the 2018 All England Open Championships, which concluded in Birmingham yesterday (Sunday).
