Greg Stremlaw has been named as the new head of the CBC Sports division of Canadian public-service broadcaster CBC.
Stremlaw most recently served as chief executive of the Curling Canada national governing body and will take on his role at the CBC from September 15.
During his time with Curling Canada, which began in 2007 and ended in May, Stremlaw negotiated television deals with pay-television broadcasters TSN and RDS.
Stremlaw’s priority will be to oversee CBC Sports’ development of its multi-platform sports journalism offering, along with its strategy on amateur sports and collaborative partnerships for major events such as the Olympic Games.
Trevor Pilling will remain in his role as CBC Sports’ head of programming.
Neil McEneaney, chief business officer for CBC English Services, said: “Greg joins CBC with a wealth of experience in sports governance, management, production and programming, negotiating sponsorships and building relationships with broadcast partners – expertise critical to the successful implementation of our sports strategy and our continued commitment to outstanding sports programming at CBC.”
