Indian direct-to-home operator Sun Direct is to offer its sports subscription packages at a lower price to coincide with the ICC Champions Trophy one day international cricket series.
Sun Direct said it made the decision as part of a move to attract more cricket fans to its digital offering.
The operator's Cinema Plus pack will change to Cinema+ Sports for existing subscribers at a monthly price of Rs185 (€2.5/$3.3). It will include the Star Cricket, ESPN, Star Sports and Star Sports-2 channels.
Star Sports and Star Sports-2 will also be available with Sun Direct’s basic packs, while the prices for ESPN HD and Star Cricket HD have additionally been cut by the operator.
Mahesh Kumar, managing director of Sun Direct, said: “Our Cinema Plus pack with its exclusive movie services and channels has been a runaway hit. With the Cinema+ Sports pack, we are sure to make this pack even more attractive. With the onset of digitalisation, a pack like this which offers movies and sports at just Rs185 will easily make Sun Direct the smartest digital TV option in the market compared to any DTH or even cable offering.”
