SuperSport, the pay-television broadcaster that operates in sub-Saharan Africa, has acquired rights for next month’s clash between boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr and mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor.
Coverage will be broadcast live on the SuperSport 2 and Maximo 1 channels in the early hours of August 27.
The event will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in the US city of Las Vegas, with the main fight between Mayweather and McGregor expected to commence after 5am Central Africa Time.
The whole event will be broadcast to subscribers of the DSTV Premium service. The DSTV pay-television operator is owned by SuperSport’s parent company, Multichoice.
The event will be available at no extra charge to Premium subscribers, and will also be available via the DSTV Now service online or through its mobile application. Highlights will also be available through DSTV’s catch-up service.
SuperSport said that non-DSTV customers can watch the fight through internet television service Showmax later in the day.
