TV Publica picks up rights to Boca-River Libertadores clash and Mayweather-Pacquiao

Argentinian state broadcaster TV Publica has agreed a deal to televise the highly-anticipated Copa Libertadores clash between domestic football clubs Boca Juniors and River Plate, while it has also acquired rights to Saturday’s world welterweight title boxing bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

Fierce Buenos Aires rivals Boca Juniors and River Plate will meet in the last-16 of continental competition the Copa Libertadores across two games on May 7 and May 14.

The Infobae.com website said TV Publica has agreed a sublicensing deal for the games with Copa rights-holder Fox Sports. The agreement means the matches will be available free-to-air across Argentina.

In other news, TV Publica has said it will broadcast live the long-anticipated fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao.

The boxing superstars will contest the WBC, WBA and WBO welterweight titles at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 2.
