Red Bee Media, the UK-based media services company, has been recruited to provide OTT streaming services for a new French horse racing streaming service put in place by Svenska Spel, the state-owned gambling operator in Sweden.
Following an agreement with PMU, France’s state-run sports betting organisation, Svenska Spel is offering the French horse racing streams on its website, apps and to TV sets at retail outlets at partner locations across Sweden.
Red Bee has also been tasked with managing Svenska Spel’s video-on-demand archive of PMU content.
Red Bee detailed: “The live signals from PMU are received, encoded and transcoded through the Red Bee Channel Store in Hilversum, before they are transported to Svenska Spel Sport & Casino’s website, apps and retailers. Red Bee’s DRM functionality makes sure that the content is geo-blocked to only be available in Sweden.”
Thomas Andrén, chief operating officer and head of market area Nordics at Red Bee Media, said: “This is another great example how our OTT platform and distributions services can be used to deliver content to audiences, on a wide range of devices, anywhere in the world with secure, high quality streaming.”
The Red Bee Media OTT platform is being used by SportsTribal TV, a new free, ad-supported sports streaming service that is launching later this year.
Last year, Red Bee was contracted by the Spring Media agency to create ‘Wnited’, an international OTT platform for women’s football. The service is offering a total of over 300 live matches and various video-on-demand content, with a mixture of free-to-view and subscriptions available.
Red Bee has also worked with Fox Sports Netherlands to provide the pay-television broadcaster with IP-based Master Control Room services. The multi-year deal, signed last December, allows Fox Sports to use Red Bee’s Global MCR platform, based in the Dutch city of Hilversum, to provide high-end sports content to its viewers.
