Spanish telecommunications company Telefónica has announced plans to launch a number of new video services in seven Latin American markets.
Services including video-on-demand and linear television channels will be made available in Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama and Uruguay. The launches by Telefónica, a major international sports broadcaster, will be staggered throughout next year.
Telefónica already offers these services in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Peru and Venezuela through various platforms.
Luis Delamer, director of Telefónica's video unit in Latin America, said: “We are determined to continue promoting the development of the pay-TV industry in the region, and content is now a core feature of the services we provide.”
