Indian pay-television broadcaster Ten Sports has agreed a rights deal with the country’s Professional Basketball League top-tier club competition.
The agreement will cover five seasons, from the 2016 campaign through to 2020.
Ten Sports will broadcast live coverage of at least 36 matches during the 2016 season. The deal will also include live coverage of the end-of-season playoffs, semi-finals and final championship.
Live coverage will be supported by studio and wrap-around programmes, as well as other additional content.
Ten Sports agreed the deal with the United Basketball Alliance, the organisation that owns and operates the Professional Basketball League.
Rajesh Sethi, global chief executive of Ten Sports, said: “There is a lot of participation in basketball among younger audiences and through the UBA, Ten Sports will offer the best of Indian Basketball to our viewers. With increased opportunity to take up the sport professionally and with the training camps, we will see more talent coming through the ranks, which will enhance the quality of play.”
