The Racing Partnership, which represents 22 racecourses across the UK, has agreed a multi-year media rights deal with betting operator Paddy Power Betfair.
The agreement will result in all Paddy Power Betfair shops in the UK and Ireland taking TRP content. Fixtures from TRP racecourses, including the all-weather facilities at Lingfield Park, Southwell and Wolverhampton, will be provided by the operator from January 1.
The UK fixtures will be added to horse racing from South Africa, which the TRP channel has been broadcasting since the service launched at the beginning of September. The channel will include meetings from all 15 Arena Racing Company-owned racecourses and seven independent racecourses from January 2018.
The deal with Paddy Power Betfair brings the total number of UK and Irish betting shops who are signed up to TRP to more than 1,800. Larger independent licensed betting offices who are taking the service include Boylesports, Jenningsbet and Stan James, with more recent signings including McLeans, Mark Jarvis and Toal’s bookmakers.
Director of The Racing Partnership, Mark Kingston, said the new deal marked a “significant step” for the operation as it continues to establish itself in the market.
