Canadian pay-television sports broadcaster TSN has expanded its horse racing coverage by agreeing a new multi-year rights deal with race track and casino operator Woodbine Entertainment Group.
Under the deal, TSN will broadcast every race from the Canadian Triple Crown series.
The series consists of the Queen's Plate, Prince of Wales Stakes and Breeders' Stakes, with the agreement marking the first time TSN has carried all three of these events. The broadcaster also holds live rights to the American Triple Crown – the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes.
As part of the deal, TSN has also acquired rights for seven Canadian horse races, including the North America Cup – the continent’s richest pacing race.
TSN’s live coverage of the Canadian Triple Crown begins with the Queen's Plate on July 6, as the 155th running of the event takes place at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto.
