Canadian pay-television sports broadcaster TSN has agreed a new partnership with College Hockey Inc, the commercial rights-holder of NCAA Division I men’s college ice hockey, to deliver expanded live coverage of the 2014-15 season.
The agreement will provide more National Collegiate Athletic Association ice hockey games in Canada this season than ever before. TSN’s live coverage of 37 games began on Friday as Notre Dame defeated Lake Superior State 5-1.
TSN’s rights package includes the season-ending Frozen Four event, which runs from March 27 to April 11. Games will be available for live streaming and on demand viewing to TSN subscribers through the TSN Go service.
In addition to the network’s live broadcast coverage, TSN will deliver news updates and analysis of NCAA Hockey across multiple platforms.
Mike Snee, executive director of College Hockey Inc, said: “Canadians have always had a strong presence in college hockey and currently make up 30 per cent of all Division I players. TSN will provide fans in Canada the chance to see for themselves why so many skilled Canadian hockey players are choosing college hockey, and why NCAA Hockey is the fastest growing development path to professional hockey.”
Shawn Redmond, vice-president of programming and marketing for TSN, added: “NCAA Hockey is an excellent addition to our comprehensive NCAA coverage that also includes NCAA March Madness and the all-new College Football Playoff.”
