The TV Media Sport agency has been appointed to distribute the media and marketing rights in sub-Saharan Africa for the 2013 athletics World Championships in a deal with the IEC in Sports agency.
TV Media Sport will be responsible for selling the rights in 48 territories in the region. The rights will include live coverage of the championships in English and French, a daily highlights programme and a three-minute news update covering the event, which will take place in Moscow, Russia.
IEC in Sports struck the deal under its distribution agreement with the event organiser and rights-holder the International Association of Athletics Federations. IEC is distributing the rights for IAAF events in Europe and sub-Saharan Africa in the 2010 to 2013 period.
“We are very happy that TV Media Sport has come on board as our latest partner in Africa and that our sales strategy for the continent continues to bear fruit,” IEC in Sports’ chairman of the international board, Nick Haigh, said.
