TVE to broadcast UCI Road World Championships finale

Spanish public-service broadcaster TVE has agreed a rights deal for cycling’s UCI Road World Championships under which it will broadcast Sunday’s showpiece men’s road race.

The Championships got underway in Toscana, Italy on September 22, but has been without live television coverage in Spain.

However, TVE has now agreed a deal with the International Cycling Union (UCI) following several weeks of negotiations. Sunday’s event finale will be shown live by TVE’s digital-terrestrial sports channel Teledeporte as well as the RTVE.es website.

Leading Spanish riders Alberto Contador, Alejandro Valverde, Purito Rodríguez and Samuel Sánchez will all compete for the world champion’s rainbow jersey.
