Twitter is to acquire video-editing start-up SnappyTV in an effort to strengthen video-sharing opportunities on the social networking website.
Twitter said that the deal would enable broadcasters, event producers and other contributors to edit, distribute and share video on the social network.
SnappyTV and Twitter have previously worked together on various video-sharing projects. Twitter data has also been built directly into the SnappyTV editing platform.
Through this partnership, Twitter users have been able to use the social networking website to view highlights of major sporting events from around the world.
“As we continue to invest in video, it’s important for us to provide tools that make it easy for TV broadcasters, businesses, and event producers to share high-quality videos,” Twitter’s director of product management, Baljeet Singh, said.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
