Uefa engages Eurovision for global transmission contract

Uefa has agreed a new multi-year partnership under which Eurovision, the production subsidiary of public-service broadcaster consortium the European Broadcasting Union, will provide live, global audiovisual transmission services to European football’s governing body.

Under the contract, all Uefa audiovisual programmes will be distributed around the world exclusively on the Eurovision satellite and fibre network. This includes all Champions League and Europa League matches for the 2012-13 to 2014-15 cycle, and the national team matches of the European qualifiers for Euro 2016 and the 2018 Fifa World Cup.

Guy-Laurent Epstein, marketing director of Uefa Events, Uefa’s wholly-owned commercial subsidiary, said: “Eurovision and Uefa have established a long-standing partnership over the past 20 years and we are delighted to have reached an agreement to extend this relationship. Eurovision can guarantee the level of experience and quality expected by Uefa in order to ensure that football fans around the world experience European football at its best.”
