Uefa launches global rights tender for European qualifiers

Uefa, football’s European governing body, has launched its global tender process for the rights covering European qualifying matches for the Euro 2016 and Fifa 2018 World Cup national team tournaments.

Offers must be submitted by 5pm CET on Thursday, May 31.

The launch of the tender process, marking Uefa’s move to a centralised media rights sales process for European qualifiers, comes less than a week after the governing body invited media companies to register their interest in the rights on Friday, April 27.

Media companies can still register their interest via email, with Uefa reiterating today, Tuesday, May 1, that only “qualified partners” with sufficient experience and infrastructure would be considered.

Uefa’s commercial subsidiary, Uefa Events, will manage the tender process. The rights were previously sold individually by Uefa’s 53 member associations.
