Ufa to sell World Games’ media rights

The Ufa Sports agency will act as the global media rights distributor for next two editions of the World Games, the International World Games Association’s flagship quadrennial event.

The five-year agreement will run from 2013 to 2017 and encompass the 2013 World Games in the Colombian city of Cali and the 2017 World Games in Wroclaw, Poland.

Ufa will also market all other commercial and sponsorship rights surrounding the multi-sport event.

“Safeguarding the diversity in sport is vital to the international culture of the 21st century,” the association’s president, Ron Froehlich, said. “A combined 1.2 billion people around the globe practise sports like inline-skating, karate, rugby or squash, for example. Our goal is to further increase this number by improving the prominence of these spectacular sports through excellent sporting achievements under the umbrella of the World Games. With Ufa Sports we are happy to have found a competent and experienced partner who will help us in achieving this goal.”

The association said that 15 hours of programming would be produced every day during the 2013 event, which will take place from July 25 to August 4.
