German commercial broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 will show an upcoming Ultimate Fighting Championship mixed martial arts event on a free-to-air channel.
Coverage of the UFC Fight Night in Hamburg on Saturday, September 3 will be shown on ProSieben Maxx, which already broadcasts NFL American football action and wrestling events.
ProSiebenSat.1 struck the rights deal with the UFC.
It will be the first time that MMA programming is shown on free-to-air German television since a 2010 ruling by the Bavarian State Media Authority to ban coverage of the sport on television was ruled as illegitimate by the administrative court in Munich in January 2015.
