Saudi telecommunications company STC has expanded its partnership with MUTV to broadcast the in-house television channel of English Premier League football club Manchester United throughout the Middle East.
The agreement marks the first time MUTV will be broadcast continuously in the Middle East, giving STC Invision subscribers access to behind the scenes footage of the club, documentaries and breaking news, as well as live commentary of every Manchester United match, including reserve and youth team games.
Manchester United group managing director Richard Arnold said: “Since forming our partnership in 2008, STC has demonstrated its expertise in developing and delivering outstanding products that meet the needs of our fans. By making MUTV available via its HD subscription channel to the almost four million Manchester United followers in the Middle East, STC is helping our fans to get closer to the club they love.”
In November 2013, United agreed a deal with STC for MUTV to be shown in three Gulf territories under a five-year contract running from 2013-14 to 2017-18.
Under the deal, STC switched from being the club’s official telecommunications partner to ‘official triple play partner’, covering Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait, while also holding rights in Turkey for the first year of the agreement.
