Universal Sports Network strikes NCTC agreement

The National Cable Television Cooperative in the US has agreed a distribution deal with pay-television sports broadcaster Universal Sports Network.

Under the deal, the cooperative’s 900 members will be able to “opt in” to carry Universal Sports Network’s multi-platform programming dedicated to Olympic, endurance and action sports.

The length of the “multi-year” deal was not disclosed.

The agreement includes video-on-demand content as well as Universal Sports Network’s linear channel and authenticated TV Everywhere rights.

Prior to the deal, Universal Sports already had separate agreements with a number of the cooperative’s members, including Google Fiber, Wave Broadband, GCI and Hawaiian Telcom.
