Dutch commercial broadcaster Veronica has acquired exclusive rights for the Netherlands women’s national football team games.
The rights cover the qualifying campaigns for the 2019 Fifa Women’s World Cup and the 2021 Uefa Women’s European Championships, as well as home friendly matches.
The first game to be covered by the deal is the Netherlands’ home qualifier against Norway next Tuesday, October 24.
Veronica, which is operated by SBS, struck the deal with the KNVB, the sport’s governing body in the Netherlands.
KNVB commercial director Jean Paul Decossaux said that the agreement represented the first time that a free-to-air broadcaster had secured coverage of two women’s national team qualifying campaigns. “It is good for women’s football, good for Veronica and good for our fans,” he said.
