Viasat snaps up Allsvenskan online rights, report says

Pay-television broadcaster Viasat, operated by pan-Nordic media company Modern Times Group, has acquired online rights in Sweden for the country’s top-tier Allsvenskan football league in a sub-licensing deal with C More Entertainment, the premium pay-television arm of media company TV4 Group, according to the Expressen news website.

Viasat’s online service, Viaplay, will start showing some Allsvenskan games next Sunday, the report said.

The report added that the deal could be expanded next season to include coverage of all Allsvenskan games, with C More Entertainment looking to expand its portfolio of rights away from football.

In March, TV4 Group announced that it had retained domestic rights for the Allsvenskan and second-tier SuperEttan in a four-year deal from 2016 to 2019.
