The European Handball Federation, the governing body for the sport in Europe, will stream its upcoming Women’s Euro competition – the women’s European Championships – live on video-sharing website YouTube in selected territories.
The streams will be available in territories where they do not conflict with existing rights agreements. In Europe, the service will be geo-blocked in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, France, Belarus, Russia, Israel, Croatia, Iceland, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Romania and Spain.
The federation, in association with the Infront Sports & Media agency, the governing body’s marketing and media partner, will offer live and on-demand coverage with English commentary of all 47 games through the federation’s official Euro YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/ehfeuro. Video reports and highlights will also be available.
The federation said that the decision to stream the tournament had been taken following the success of a similar initiative for the Men’s Euro event in January.
The Women’s Euro is being hosted by Serbia and will run from December 4-16.
