Susanne Aigner-Drews has been appointed as the new managing director of the German division of pan-regional broadcaster Eurosport.
Aigner-Drews is the managing director of media company Discovery Communications Deutschland and will take on the Eurosport post alongside her current role.
Current Eurosport Deutschland chief Bernd Daubenmerkl is set to leave the company at his own request in April.
Aigner-Drews’ appointment follows Discovery Communications’ June completion of its acquisition of a controlling interest in Eurosport.
Discovery increased its stake in Eurosport from 20 per cent to 51 per cent as part of the deal, which was originally struck with the latter’s parent company, French commercial broadcaster TF1 Group, in December 2012.
