Pay-television broadcaster Al Jazeera has acquired the rights in France to handball’s European Champions League in a five-year deal, from 2012-13 to 2016-17, from the MP & Silva agency.
Al Jazeera will broadcast 148 matches per season from the men’s competition, and 72 from the women’s, on its recently launched beIN Sport network.
The MP & Silva agency acquired the distribution rights in France to European Champions League handball in a deal with EHF Marketing, the commercial arm of the European Handball Federation, in March this year. The deal also included rights in the US and Canada in the same five-year period.
